Will my pension at SSPF be increased?

Do you receive a pension benefit? Each year we assess whether we can increase your pension. This is called indexation. The extent of the increase may differ depending on the type of benefit you receive. That’s why you will receive a personal letter in February explaining what the increase means for your pension.

Have you worked at Shell and are you now retired? Did you work for Shell in the past and are you not yet receiving a pension? Or are you receiving a partner’s pension? Then this information is for you.

Each year, the board of SSPF aims to increase your pension in line with price inflation. Indexation can only take place if the financial position of the pension fund allows it. Therefore, the increase is not guaranteed. Every year, the board determines whether pensions can be increased.

The board has again decided to fully index pensions in 2026

To determine the indexation percentage, the board uses the derived price indexation figure for all households (derived CPI index) for the period November 2024 to November 2025, as determined by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). This method is laid down in the pension scheme regulations. Inflation during that period was 2.8%, and the fund’s financial position is strong enough to increase pensions by 2.8%. The increase takes effect on 1 February 2026 and will be paid in March 2026.

SSPF is fully up to date with all indexations

The board aims to keep the value of your pension stable. SSPF has so far been able to grant all indexations permitted under the pension scheme. There are currently no indexation arrears.

Do you work at Shell and accrue pension with SSPF? Then this information is for you.

On 1 February 2026, your accrued pension will be increased by 2.95%. Since 2023, the indexation method has been based on the derived price indexation figure for all households (derived CPI index) determined by Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

Do you participate in the Collective Variable Pension (CVP) of the SNPS Net Pension Scheme?

Then your benefit moves in line with the achieved investment results. These results are reflected in your pension as of 1 July of the following year. You will be informed about this, and you can always find this message in your Archive on my‑Shell Pension(opens in new window).

SSPF is expected to transition to the new scheme on 1 January 2027.

In the new scheme, pension adjustments work differently: your pension will then be adjusted based on achieved investment results. You can read more about how this works here(opens in new window).
