Working abroad

Are you going to work abroad for Shell? Your pension accrual may change. Will the Netherlands still be your Base Country? Then you will continue to be a participant of Shell Pension. However, you will only accrue AOW benefit if you are living in the Netherlands.

Different Base Country? Discuss the consequences for your pension with HR

It can tell you exactly what the consequences will be for your pension. Or contact us via the contact page.

Are you also living abroad? Notify us of any changes to your circumstances yourself

In the Netherlands, we automatically receive information from the municipality in which you live. For example, if you move, marry or have children. This does not happen if you live abroad. So, notify us of any changes like this yourself. Contact us first via the contact page. We will then let you know what you need to submit.

Tip: voluntary insurance for the AOW or ANW?

As a resident of the Netherlands, you are insured for the AOW and ANW. The AOW entitles you to an AOW pension with effect from your statutory retirement date.

In certain situations, the ANW insurance entitles your partner to a benefit if you die. Both insurances stop if you leave the Netherlands to live in a different country. However, you could opt for voluntary insurance for the AOW or ANW in this situation. For more information, contact the Social Insurance Bank(opens in new window). You can arrange the insurance via the Social Insurance Bank too.
