Leaving Shell

Leaving Shell employment? Your pension accrual with Shell Pension will stop, but you will remain entitled to the pension you have already accrued.

You have 2 options for your accrued pension

  1. Leave your pension with Shell Pensioen: the pension you have accrued stays with Shell Pension until you retire.
  2. Transfer of accrued pension rights to your new pension fund: you can choose to transfer your pension to your new employer’s pension administrator. This is called value transfer.

Your new pension administrator will notify you automatically. Please review their conditions and consider seeking advice from a financial advisor.

No benefit and no new job after 3 months? Choose what you want to do with the partner’s pension

If you die while employed by Shell, your partner is insured for a benefit: the partner’s pension. Are you leaving Shell employment and receiving a benefit due to unemployment or illness? Then the insurance will remain in place until you stop receiving the benefit in question. Are you not receiving such a benefit? Then the insurance for the partner’s pension will continue for a maximum of 3 months, until you start a new job or retire. After that, the insurance stops automatically.

However, you can sometimes choose to have the insurance continue beyond 3 months. This will affect your pension capital, as part of the money will be used for the insurance. This is not always possible, for example if the capital would become too low. Please contact us via the contact page for more information.

You will automatically receive a message from us

Within 3 months, you will receive an overview of your accrued pension. It contains all the important information you need to know about your pension. You can use it to decide which choice you want to make.
